o Instances were reported where students were unable to test at another institution because the required software was not available , specifically referencing Microsoft products . o It was suggested that when a student encounters a testing issue, the student should contact the host institution directly. o In many cases, the required software may already be available, but the proctor may not be aware. o The institution could then either assist the student or administer the test themselves. o It was noted that Jones College has alternative options available as well. o A full Microsoft Office suite may not be installed in the primary proctoring lab if it has not been commonly required. o Historically, most exams were delivered through Pearson, reducing the need for full Microsoft installations. o However, Microsoft Office is available when required , provided the need is documented in the appointment notes. Microsoft Office may not always be specified in appointment notes, even when students are enrolled in Excel or Microsoft Office courses . o It was emphasized that students should not be placed in LockDown Browser if they need access to external software packages. o Some institutions do not use LockDown Browser and therefore may not be able to provide guidance on its use. o Decisions regarding required software access are typically made at the host institution level . o Workarounds may include using alternate labs where necessary software is available. o A concern was raised that the need for
