2025-2026 MELA Minutes

iii. Version 3 Timeline: • No specific timeline is available.

• Contingent on a partner delivering needed components. • Request to avoid rollout during heavy testing periods. iv. Cost Considerations: • Question about cost allocation if policies follow the course. • Example: If an ICC student takes a Pearl River class, who pays for hybrid solution? v. Accommodations for out-of-state students are being handled. vi. Upgrades coming in version three: • LTI upgrade to 1.3 with advanced communication. • Limited scope exams for individual student assignments. • Enhanced admin dashboard and reporting, including a super admin dashboard. • Institutional-level accommodations for time adjustments. vii. Second Camera Policy • Discussion about the need for a policy regarding the second camera. Institutions need to create their own policies about privacy. Second camera currently requires a cell phone. Concerns about observing the student's workspace. Transparency with students is important. Remote/video exams are by student choice, mitigating privacy concerns. Pearl River is still covered, students agree to a 360 room scan before making an appointment. Students suing proctoring services are being forced to use them with no alternative. Students must be notified of the procedure with the two cameras before they agree and pay for the service. Remind students that all the labs already have multiple cameras, whether doing it at home or in a lab. • Dr. Wilhite talked about the General Study Skills has been added to Brainfuse offerings, aligning with college study skills (time management, learning styles, etc.). Brainfuse is looking to expand its offerings beyond tutoring, seeking ideas for faculty and student use as teaching and learning tools. Karen is connected with Sarah for the Future MELA retreat to explore potential enhancements.
