She also wanted to be transparent about this feedback, especially since we’ve previously discussed the importance of aligning what is offered with what is actually needed. She mentioned that she will follow up next week with the group requesting input on training topics you may be planning locally so she can support those efforts through the DEN. All sessions would be offered live and then immediately moved to on-demand for year-round access. 3. ET Self-Registration Update and Inquiry - She asked if any school was using the ET self-registration. She was trying to determine whether anyone was still actively using self registration. Based on what she understood, most institutions have moved away from it. She mentioned that these questions arose in light of our recent campus security incident. She stated that we do have a custom trust established with Canvas related to enrollment. As part of our internal review, she asked Ive to examine the enrollment tool to ensure there were no vulnerabilities or data concerns. She mentioned that he did not find any indication of a breach. She mentioned that Ive had questions raised concerning self-registration. Because it uses a more public-facing login point, it potentially creates an open access point that someone could attempt to exploit. She mentioned that Ive recommendation were that if any institution is still using self-registration, consider phasing it out. Ideally, move toward more institutionally controlled enrollment processes with limited login access points. She asked the question if any school was still using self-registration? If so, she asked if they would be willing to consider phasing it out. If no one was using it, she may consider disabling that feature altogether for added security. If someone is using it, she can discuss next steps based on the will of the association. Buffy Matthew, MGCCC, stated that, based on the chat, most institutions are not using self-registration. Dr. Christa Whilhite agreed with Buffy Matthew that she was seeing the same in the chat.
