Continued— ExCEL Leadership Training

Dr. Sheriece Robinson

In an effort to support the leadership training objectives, Jim and I were tasked with identifying professional and developmental goals. Our professional goals were streamlined to ensure they were specific, measureable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound. As I connect my professional goals and knowledge learned from our mentors, resources, and training sessions, I apply the GROW Model to reflect my monthly progress. This structure helps me provide an in-depth analysis by making a connection and identify- ing additional opportunities that I would like to explore. The monthly assignments are utilized to provide our instructors (Dr. May- field, Ms. Jiles, and Dr. Thurman) with a deeper level of understanding regarding our connection to the trainings in a more practi- cal manner. This yields additional guidance, dialogue, and learning opportunities as we excel in this training program. In conclusion, it is my belief that the practical learning experiences acquired in the ExCEL training program are vital for teaching, mentoring, and supporting aspiring leaders and managers. I also regard that the learning experiences complement the culture of MCCB to support its collaborative learning exchange for staff members. This level of significance aims to foster professional devel- opment while upholding the agency’s mission and values.
