MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

focus areas were identified, referenced and presented to presidents during summer 2012. The Administration Committee made recommendation to adopt new strategy initiatives as listed and also adopt the new plan template. Motion carried. ii. Committee members were separated into groups to discuss and close loops, move plans from old to new and create new goals and objectives. Chair of each committee presented new goals and objectives to the group. They will email updated list to Audra who will compile and present to Steering Committee Meeting November 20. The final plan will be presented at the December eLC meeting for approval. After the November 3 demonstration at Holmes, Audra was contacted by one of the VPs of ProctorU. He stated that they are in the process of working on a scheduling system; however, it is not completely finalized. They issued a proposal and are willing to make the system available to the group for free. Currently, they have individual accounts but will have to build more account levels such as super admin, managers and users. They indicated they would consider a flat fee for testing, especially with a 3 to 5 year contract. After agreement is executed, they would develop a version for piloting by mid-spring and complete the platform within 4 to 6 months. Members of the group concurred with Audra that we are not willing to make a commitment until we can see what the product offers. The proposal for Smarter Proctoring includes Register Blast and B-Virtual. Smarter Proctoring integrates in Canvas, Register Blast is the registration system for each location and B-Virtual is for offsite testing. Audra said that she would discuss with Smarter Proctoring and Proctor U what we need to move forward. Smarter Proctoring needs to include free pilot and involve all schools in pilot. ProctorU needs to include a full demonstration with instructor, student and administrator views, information about recording options and shorter timeline. a. Canvas ET Integration i. Canvas integrations change the way files are processed via the ET. According to Audra, Ive has worked on some issues to make sure files are loading correctly. In order to receive the error reports eLCs, responsible for receiving error reports, are asked to be added to the users’ group section in the test environment by November 21. Institutions need to create test users in the ET and Canvas and enroll them in fall semester courses, make changes to courses and observe what happens. Audra will send a follow-up email with instructions as well as a list of courses to be used in the test environment. b. Proctor Center Scheduling Software i.
