E. Mr. Smith recommended that when students withdraw to block access and change the student's role in the course to a guest. Blocking their access prevents the student from accessing the course and changing their role to guest removes their name from the gradebook. If a student is reinstated, the role can be changed back to a student and all their data is restored.
