The consortium is generally able to negotiate (much) lower prices for goods or services being awarded than any single institution in the collective. These savings are usually significant ranging from 10% to 35%. For fiscal year 2018, purchasing as a consortium equated to a 43% savings when compared to each institution purchasing the same services individually. FY2018 MSVCC Cost Avoidance $1,469,637
