PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
MSVCC ACADEMY The changing landscape of technology and use of digitally enhanced learning has made access to affordable professional development a necessary component for educators. Effective professional development enables educators to develop the knowledge and skills needed to address not only technology concerns but also student learning challenges. The MSVCC Academy provides quality professional development services which enables the community colleges to support a high volume of instructors. To accommodate the various needs of the consortium, the MSVCC contracts with facilitators and course developers utilizing MSVCC funds to offer courses and webinars in a variety of formats including both day and evening, online, face-to-face, synchronous, asynchronous, self-paced, and at various conferences and workshops throughout the year.
22 3 1 DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT PROCESS STEP ONE: Identify design and development needs of the colleges through committee meetings, surveys, group discussions, and Strategic Planning goals. STEP THREE: Assign training developer(s) to develop needed courses which adhere to set timelines and standards. 24 MISSISSIPPI VIRTUAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE
2 STEP TWO: Convene the Training and Design Committee to identify courses for development, outline course objectives, and draft upcoming course schedule.
4 5 STEP FOUR: Utilizing a peer-review process of 5 community college trainers, each MSVCC Academy course developed is submitted for a quality assurance review. STEP FIVE: After passing the quality assurance review, the MSVCC Academy Course is ready to be offered for the upcoming term.
