Yes. It is correct that no other state accepts an OTA license from MS.

Thanks,

So it would be correct to say that no other state accepts a Mississippi license. Is that right? MS is not currently part of the compact licensure, so other states do not recognize our license. There are advocates for MS to join the compact licensure, but it has not gone through. I will make sure to keep up with that and let you know if our state joins that agreement. That does help. We need to determine whether other states recognize the Mississippi license. Do you know if any reciprocity/compact agreements exist for OTA? The new law requires us to see if our state licenses are recognized in all other states. Then, we have to send out-of-state students a letter and tell them whether or not the license is recognized in their state. In the interest of transparency, I’m trying to figure out a way to avoid calling the licensing agencies in the other 49 states and asking them whether they accept a Mississippi license.

Jordan

The OTA students will be licensed through the Mississippi Department of Health. They have to graduate and pass a national board exam (NBCOT) prior to the state granting their license. I hope this is the information that you are needing.

Subject: PTA and OTA Licensure Good morning,

We’re working on documentation for a new federal licensure verification requirement, and I have a question about PTA and OTA. Do your students leave with a state or national license; that is, does the State of Mississippi license them, or does a national organization license them?

I appreciate your help.

Best,

Jordan
