CAREER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMIES (CDA) ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

Characteristics of Work: The CDA Assistant Project Manager is a full-time position within the Division of Resource Development. This staff member will aid in the overall implementation of the initiative, including working closely with the CDA colleges, coordinating capacity- building activities, planning and executing key events, supporting the evaluation, and assisting with reporting and budget management. Work is subject to review by the Program Specialist for Grants, to whom the incumbent is responsible. Examples of Work: The following examples are intended only as illustrations of the various tasks performed by the incumbent in this position. These examples are not meant to be exhaustive; they are representative of the general functions of this position. 1. Understand and uphold youth development principles to achieve CDA goals and outcomes 2. Work with the MCCB CDA Project Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the CDA grant 3. Work with community colleges and other partners to develop and operate the CDA 4. Establish regular communication schedules with CDA Team 5. Facilitate communication and maintain positive relationships with CDA community colleges 6. Develop for review and approval any pertinent program procedures, processes, and training or operations manuals 7. Assist in the development of marketing materials and strategies to maximize program participation. Conduct outreach with state-level partners, as needed, to increase awareness of and visibility of the program and referrals from community partners 8. Identify needs and create professional development activities for the MCCB CDA Team and the colleges implementing CDA 9. Identify a pool of professional training personnel capable of providing technical assistance to CDA sites on relevant issues 10. Work with technical assistance providers and the college Academic Coordinators to coordinate ongoing support to the CDA staff of the participating colleges as it relates to effective instruction to help students achieve academic success 11. Develop and deliver training in individualized settings, small groups, and via the web in synchronous and asynchronous formats 12. Support project evaluation by maintaining records of participation, satisfaction, and other measures related to the evaluation framework 13. Help to coordinate technical assistance and project evaluator visits/scope of work with the CDA colleges 14. Assist in all program and fiscal compliance reviews 15. Help to compile progress and fiscal reports for submission to the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) 16. Meet or exceed required grant performance standards 17. Maintain appropriate records and files in compliance with CDA procedures and requirements of MCCB and MDHS 18. Observe confidentiality of all student information 19. All other duties as assigned by the MCCB CDA Project Manager 20. Note: Job description, role, and activities may change at any time without prior notice 21. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in education, higher education, youth development, or a related field. Two years or more of experience serving at risk youth or academically under-prepared students at the administrative/coordinative professional level. Excellent written and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to conceptualize, lead, and manage multiple activities in various locations. Verifiable advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Internet, etc.). Strong organizational skills and experience with tracking outcomes and/or writing reports.

Preferred Qualifications: •

Two years of work experience in federal and/or state grant administration Middle school, high school, or community college teaching experience

• Demonstrated experience in program development, professional development, marketing, financial management, safety and risk management
