MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

asked that everyone review these files in their entirety and provide any necessary changes. The Presidents Association has already approved these documents. b. There were no additional policy changes made to the Policies and Procedures document. The changes made were only grammatical in nature. c. There were some additions to the Strategic Plan document. Strategic Plan 2013 was added, to include the focus areas. We asked that an individual at SBCJC, who had a great deal of experience with SACS, look over and provide feedback on the focus areas. The history of MSVCC documentation was moved to the back of the document. It is important to leave that information in the document, but was not necessary to have the information in the front. Committee information and goals and objectives were also revised and added to the final document. V. Strategic Planning Breakout Sessions (20 minutes) – Each chair will provide a completed copy of the goals and objectives. James McMullen needs to be removed from the Technology Committee (page 3) and Chris Square added in his place. The SACS suggestion numbers will be deleted from the strategic plan. VI. New Business – Funding Formula. Currently Dr. Day uses a table that includes three columns. The first column includes all of the academic and technical course credit hours, including provided MSVCC courses. Those hours get a value of one. The next two columns are “hosted hours” and “provider hours.” The hosted and provider portions of the funding formula are only calculated on part-time students, those students taking less than 12 credit hours during a semester. Hosted is defined as the school that pulls in the course from an away institution for their local student. The hosted school will receive the tuition/fees plus ½ hours credit. Provider is defined as the school that provides the course through MSVCC. The provider school will receive one credit for offering the course and ½ credit for providing the course to the away college part-time student. Please see the tables below for a better understanding of the funding formula. Example 1: Holmes is teaching BOT 1113. They will receive full hours credit for offering the course through MSVCC for each student enrolled. If a Hinds part-time student takes the course, they will receive the following credits: n. Best Practices – Terry Pollard o. Technology – Chris Square p. Quality – Jennifer Leimer q. Support – Audra Leverton r. Administration – Tish Stewart
