Old Business a. Christian Bandwidth: The technology council is recommending that the bandwidth to all colleges be doubled from the current 50 Mb. Christian will make the proposal at the next President’s meeting. b. Tish meeting with the proctors: scheduling software, watch software, etc. Good idea to bring the proctors together. Teachers are not doing a good job with passwords in the Enrollment Tool. Tish is still going to do the Survey before the proctoring meeting. Holly and Buffy suggested May 17 th (Monday) Audra suggested using Rankin Campus, she will check to make sure it is available on that date. c. Email override: The email override functionality is valid and located in production. To check this you can go to. Christian stated you cannot change it but you can see what institution’s email is affiliated with the user. All changes will have to be emailed to Christian. Dr. Jenkins asked if we should stop requesting DLCs to take a user out of snapshot. Christian stated it is important to try and keep the student in the snapshot to avoid an overload and continue to check for SSN and DOB match. d. New name for DLC Association: E-Learning Counsel was one of the names. Christian stated when you see Distance Learning you only think of virtual, but DLCs deal with more than online learning. eLearning Counsel will create more awareness of the job of the DLC and expand the structure of the group. He recommended extending honorary membership to faculty members that could help with the issues and concerns of the group. Christian would like to make this official in the February President’s meeting. Christian will do a survey and send to the DLCs to present. e. DLC handbook- Tish, Jennifer, and Christian met in December. They gathered information from Boot camp. DLC Handbook will be created when we go to BB9 to develop training material, etc. New Business a. Holly Melvin – Mobile Learning Newsletter, Belinda Russell has a 98% retention rate with Podcasting. Mobile Learning training was done at NEMCC. Apple workshop will be conducted July 19-21 at NEMCC. Christian stated that Apple will do an iPod Touch presentation at CFTTC. Apple will provide iPod touches during the presentation. Hinds have an iPhone App that will allow you view courses and tools. They are also working on an application for Blackberry. b. Jennifer Leimer suggested BB develop a forgot password link. There is a forgot password link in D2L, and it will send the user an email, to their official college email account, providing their username and password. Christian stated the problem is that blackboard does not store the password, but stores their hashed password data. Audra suggested building this into a module, so that schools wishing to use it could and others could opt out. c. Jennifer Leimer stated that she had tons of email escalations about logging into the course site. This semester was much worse than previous semesters. Audra stated that Presidium did not send the spreadsheet data that we updated during the fall semester to the proper channels for update. Jennifer Leimer mentioned that MGCCC also uses Presidium for their email technical
