New Business a. Discussion of Building Blocks. Krista provided the ELCs a list of the current building blocks that are being used, cost and usage of those building blocks and the building blocks that have been requested. The majority of the requests are specifically publisher building blocks. The support subcommittee recommends that we wait on installing additional building blocks until the RFP has been finalized. If a class is not functional without the building block, then you will need to request the building block by contacting Christian.

Krista made a motion to table the requests for building blocks until the RFP process has been finalized. Jennifer Leimer seconded the motion. Motion carried.

MCCB Business-Christian Pruett a. Introduction of Akiah Gipson-new Director of Professional Development and Training. It is important that pedagogy and learning is balanced within the Academy courses. Faculty has the training on technology but there needs to be more training on how to improve teaching online. This type of improvement in training will help with our two areas of concern, retention and quality. b. Overview of Needs Assessment and the MSVCC site. The needs assessment will help with identifying where we are and determine where we need to go. Akiah would like for the ELCs to select a date and time to meet with her. She would like feedback about the Online Faculty Assessment by August 6 th . She will use the assessments and evaluations to analyze and look for trends to help improve the trainings that are offered to our faculty. c. MSVCC & USM Partnership: We signed a contract to allow USM to have 150 seats and the CCs are getting the FTEs and 70% of the tuition. This is cheaper than them using their own instructors to teach the online courses. MWU wants to come on board and use the MSVCC online courses to offer a bachelor’s degree online. The students will complete their associate’s degree using the MSVCC online courses. There are eight online undergraduate programs are available at USM. There are five employees that help with the distance learning registration. Some of the issues USM is having is not knowing when the student has withdrawn from the online courses through their SIS and so there are times when the student is still in the class in the ET. Another issue is the proctoring center limitations. They currently have three computers for proctoring. If there are any issues, please contact Amy Thornton at USM. Here BB IM username is amythornton all lowercase. USM has not received a copy of the contact information sheet. So one will be sent to them. d. Formula: Debra Gilbert has a budget book and it shows the amount that the college is getting for virtual enrollments associated with MSVCC. This is called the incentive funding. The IR person at each college should be able to give the ELC the FTE for distance learning. There are several areas in which distance learning receives money: 1. Incentive Funding, distance education FTE, JSU/USM tuition and FTEs. Can Debra come and explain the formula to the ELCs? Christian has a document that he will share that includes the formula and an example. e. MSVCC SquareSpace. MSVCC SquareSpace will replace the MSVCC .org and TypeSpace websites. Christian wants to increase their marketing effort for MSVCC. There will be a standard username and password to access the information. The username is Msvcc1 and password is 99resources. On the SquareSpace page is a form that will allow individuals to fill
