MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017
iii. Jennifer Leimer asked how users (school office personnel, etc.) get into BB IM without actually enrolling users into courses. Audra will get definitive answers about how to upload manual files for people not enrolled in courses. iv. Kim Harris mentioned that NEMCC didn’t have any issues with syncing BB IM, and files are working the way they should; however, they did have one issue with a course that didn’t have a section, which has been fixed. v. Audra Kimble stated that BB IM would go ‘live’ on August 22 nd or 23 rd , prior to the first day of class for those schools that are ready. i. Contract ends August 31, 2013. ii. BB has agreed to hold pricing steady, and Audra Kimble is working to get a one-year extension (this would be our 6 th year, and ITS would have to agree). The pricing is around $45,000 a year for three tools (Voice Authoring, IM, and Web Conferencing). iii. Big Blue Button in Canvas is an option; however, it is very basic and would cost extra for the archiving feature. Pricing is based on concurrent sessions. Krista Lebrun previously looked into ‘Linkedin’ (Microsoft product) web conferencing, which has a whiteboard feature, but not IM feature. The ELCs are interested to see what else is out there. The Support Committee will look into a competitive product to present to the group. iv. The BB ‘Archive’ contract has been approved; however, the MCCB is finalizing all of the legal wording of the contract. e. Summer Assessments i. Audra Kimble stated that invoices were sent to each college based on what was in the ET. MOAs (Memorandums of Agreement) i. MOAs were sent to all college Presidents. There is a survey on the back of the MOA. Coahoma, Jones, and Pearl River Community College are the three schools that have not been signed and returned. g. MUW Partnership i. Conversations are going on with Mississippi University for Women about being an IHL partner in the MSVCC. Hopefully, this partnership will be finalized soon. Audra Kimble will update the group as things progress with the University partnership. d. Blackboard Collaborate Contract: f.
