MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

 NW- One required, departments may require two. No set policy for weighting. Instructors sign proctor agreement and proctor at least two campuses with their own students. Students use SmarterProctoring if they can’t come to time determined by the instructor. Walk ins are accepted. BVirtual used for those who are in another state. Possible issues with time zone-B-Virtual goes off of students time zone. B-Virtual uses the time zone the students selects when creating their profile in SmarterProctoring.  PRCC- 8 week require one and 15 requires 2. BVirtual in use. Had a problem where the student wasn’t allowed to use formula sheet; money was refunded and she was allowed to retest. Charges $25 for no shows. JCJC one publisher campus and instructors can create own book. Campus bookstore is now like a spirit store. 3 ring binder copy is now included in fees for every textbook. Course fee model instead of ebook fee. eBook and black and white for 40. Pearson campus was key to that deal. 5 year contract with an opt out at end of year three. VitalSource still platform. Spreadsheet is sent still, but it is easier to link books to courses in the coding now.  CoLin uses subcode for billing purposes.

NE moving to VitalSource for Cengage.

 MGCCC rents most textbooks but some are purchase.

D. Textbooks in ET ECCC- Does anyone have someone beyond their office uploading textbooks to ET? To see what role she has in ET? Currently bookstore manager has ELC rights. We would need to create a custom role with groups’ agreement to create the role. E. Four Week Terms Audra- Updates or concerns on 4 week terms? ICC has good enrollment. MGCCC had success this summer. 3 weeks are approved but will not be built in ET unless there is a desire for them. MCC- Any work on back end for the 4 week terms? None. Term within a term. Holmes requires ebooks for 4 week course. Attendance is taken twice a week.
