Open Forum

a. Tish Stewart a) Dates for Spring Break and school closings on Friday, March 10

a. Tish requested that colleges let each other know if which short-term classes are closing, since many colleges have 4-day weeks and Spring Break next week. She also wanted to take a poll of who would be out of the office on Friday. If you have short-term classes that are going to be cancelled, try to e-mail the group cancellations on Thursday, March 9. a) Turnitin Update a. Brandi e-mailed the group information from Turnitin. Included in that e-mail is a report of what Turnitin provided her, regarding submissions and usage reports. The email also includes an attachment giving the breakdown of the institutional- level usage. Another attachment to the email includes customer support, staffing, tier-process implementation, and plan to move forward. b. Many in the group were concerned about Turnitin’s support and response time. Krista mentioned that Turnitin has promised a response time of 2-15 hours; however, some are seeing multiple weeks’ timeframe. c. Chris Ryals is very knowledgeable on Turnitin, and is willing to visit each institution to provide training. This may also be something to include on the Canvas User Group agenda as well. Turnitin does not provide free training (virtual training was quoted around $650). i. VOTE: Brandi McGraw made a motion on behalf of the Support Committee to move forward with a one-year contract, with recommendations, to Turnitin. Christa Wilhite seconded. All in favor; no opposing.

Wednesday, April 12 (at Hinds Eagle Ridge) i. Meeting will start early, so we can dismiss by lunch. c. Wednesday, May 10 (MCCB, 5 th Floor Board Room) d. Wednesday, June 14 (TBA)
