MELA Minutes 2024-2025

The floor was then opened for discussion and much deliberation transpired before the consortium voted. Angel Nickens (NWCC) noted that the consortium must implement a solution and remarked that even if we can’t afford Panorama, UDoIt can achieve the necessary tasks. She compared it to a Mercedes and a Toyota, stating that the Toyota can accomplish the tasks at a more affordable cost. Kim Harris (NEMCC) stated she was very disappointed with the consortium as a whole and felt it did not carry out the due diligence necessary for a fully informed discussion. As a result, the group is now rushing to reach a decision. She emphasized that it’s not an individual's fault but rather the responsibility of the group as a whole. She believes we are doing our instructors a disservice because of the workload required when we have a tool that could help them expedite the process. She stated that we aren't striving for excellence Anna Davis (CLCC) noted that while everyone would prefer Panorama— using the NWCC’s analogy—the Mercedes over the Toyota, based on Dr. Lebrun’s presentation, budgetary discretion, and current legislative items, the Mercedes may not be a feasible option. Once the discussion was over the motion was brought forth for a vote: Motion: Support Committee recommends adoption of UDOIT by CidiLabs based on the criteria determined by Accessibility Ad-Hoc Committee as shown in the accessibility worksheets . Figure 1 Tequila Sunrise (ICC) stated the consortium voted in favor of UDoIT; therefore, it would move forward with this accessibility product She thanked everybody in this room for their hard work.
