Helpful Hint: Be sure to document evidence of reasonable efforts, including website reviews, phone calls, and email correspondence, on the Professional Licensure Disclosure Template (Appendix E). For each program, the MCCB will create a comprehensive PDF that lists each of the states and territories for which determinations were made. SARA has indicated that all reasonable efforts consist of institutions researching the licensure requirements for each State where its students are located . If information is not readily available or clear, programs should then contact the relevant State licensing board for further information. If the licensing board is unresponsive or the requirements are still unclear, only then may the program disclose in good faith that it has not made a determination as to whether it meets licensure requirements in a particular State. Mississippi Community College Review Process All programs designed to or advertised as leading to licensure, regardless of modality, must create and distribute disclosure statements regarding whether the program does or does not lead to Licensure in each state within the United States and U.S. Territories. On April 12, 2022, the Mississippi community colleges agreed to collaborate, where applicable, to reduce duplication of effort and to ensure system-wide compliance with federal laws, regulations, and the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement. The following section outlines the programs that have been identified as leading to licensure in the State of Mississippi, denotes which college will serve as the lead reviewer for disclosure statements, and sets forth the responsibilities of the MCCB and the community colleges for collaboration purposes. Community College Programs Leading to Licensure Mississippi’s community colleges offer many programs leading to professional licensure. A comprehensive listing of community college programs leading to licensure, including SARA’s Impact on Programs Leading to Licensure Any Institution approved to participate in SARA that offers courses or programs designed to lead to professional licensure or certification or advertised as leading to Licensure must satisfy all federal requirements for disclosures regarding such professional licensure programs under 34 §C.F.R. 668.43 . For SARA purposes, institutions unable, after all reasonable efforts , to determine whether a program will meet state professional licensure requirements shall provide the student or applicant with current contact information for any applicable licensing boards , and advise the student or applicant to determine whether the program meets requirements for licensure in the State where the student or applicant is located.
