MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

e. ADMINISTRATION – TISH STEWART. Tish said that we will get the policies and procedures done on Wednesday morning of the DLC Bootcamp. Jennifer asked that Christian send a message out that all community colleges are present during the policies and procedures update. It is a required 2/3 vote to approve the administrative documents. Christian said that it is also important that we are able to answer questions that our Presidents may have regarding our policies and procedures. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. PRESIDIUM – TERRY POLLARD. Three conference calls the first week of the semester. August 25 th , 27 th , and 29 th at 11:00a.m. These conference calls are optional and setup for those that are having problems with presidium. Updates are needed for presidium. See Item 2.b. for the updates. Audra asked if we needed to update the information or update and send to Patrick. Terry said that we should just update the information and ask that the CSR look at the updated folder. Parature is the software that drives presidium folders. They will create a mass action folder for snapshot related folders. Should be able to do a mass resolve on the ticketing for any snapshot related errors. This will create a cleaner ticket area and able to resolve those tickets more quickly. The new system will provide more self-support for our students and faculty members. Our faculty/student will be able to log in for the self-support center (example: HELP) within Bb/D2L. The Knowledge Based link on the Home tab will be removed within the next two weeks. Please decide who will be reviewing the Presidium tickets and snapshot files during the first week or two of the schools. Patrick will archive one of the webex sessions for those who were unable to attend. Escalation fields – need to list what Presidium has already done before the ticket is escalated. Tish added that there is also a good report tool out of Presidium on the number of students that use the system at the state level, college level, etc. TN. Went to a lot of good workshops and presentations. D2L employees do a lot of the presentations, which provides you with knowledgeable people. Would really encourage others of you to try to attend. We conducted upgrades on Tuesday/Wednesday. Went very smoothly. Learning Object Repository will need to be remapped, but all went well. When we first upgraded from 8.1 to 8.3 students were unable to see their colleges without having IE7. We thought that this was a problem with D2L. It was actually out custom widget with coding that could not be read by anything but IE7; however, they corrected this problem and can use earlier version of IE. MGCCC would also like to look at the possibility of adding hybrid/web- enhanced courses onto our online server. Would like to integrate this through our SIS. The state is currently integrated and we feel that we should get the same benefits at the same level. This has been mentioned to our President, SBCJC, and D2L. We would like your students to have the same benefits as those that have courses in Bb. D2L is well versed with the integration system. They have worked with large organization such as Tennessee Board of Regents. Will conduct some training at bootcamp. Strongly encourage you or others from your NEW BUSINESS a. D2L UPDATE – JENNIFER LEIMER. Buffy and I attended the Fushion conference in Memphis,
