MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

Creating Futures 2012- The 2012 dates conflict with the midterm schedule. It was requested that the dates be moved to February 29 th -March 2 nd .

Blackboard- The staging server is being upgraded. Service Pack 3 has to be applied prior to adding Service Pack 4. The target dates for applying SP4 to our production server are May 14 th – May 18 th . The recommendation is to allow snapshot to build the summer courses first and build the fall in mid June. Snapshot will be suspended during the upgrade. Summer files can be ready and course shells built May 17 th and 18 th . Faculty would then get access to the courses on May 20 th . The proposed schedule will be discussed on the weekly Thursday call with Blackboard.

X-ID Tool - Terry provided a handout concerning trouble shooting content items by using the X-ID. (See Attachment)

Video Demonstrating Test-To-Server Activity – The item was tabled.

Outstanding Ticket Items – The issue with the “Ghostbusters”/student unavailable symbol in the grade center has been passed back to Sean at Blackboard. Terry hopes that the issues with the small font size in some of the building blocks will be resolved with Service Pack 4.

Blackboard Training Event

The group provided feedback on the Blackboard training sessions that were held at Holmes.

The group discussed creating generic student accounts that can be enrolled in courses as needed. This will allow the eL staff and instructors the option to see items in the courses as seen by students.

Notification Roles – Connie, ones of the Blackboard trainers, had mentioned that the notification modules were set by roles. Terry verified the information on Bb’s website, but our modules were not set accordingly. Terry has made the necessary adjustments. What’s New – The Home Page module’s name has been changed to What’s New. This will be visible when new courses are created.
