MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017
to Ive. Ive did not approve of the spreadsheet and it went back to the Calendar Admin Committee. Keri, Audra, and Tish met with Ive and Raul Fletes (MCCB – Audit Division) again on the morning of April 23, prior to the ELC meeting, and came to a conclusion that they could agree on consecutive days or percentages for ET control dates; however, the census dates could not be agreed upon. i. Audra passed out a handout with proposed values to be used for 15-, 8-, and 4- week term control dates. Audra went over the handout details. In reading the handout, Audra reminded the group that these are not publicized dates, but only dates used to control the ET. 1. Notes regarding the handout: a. “Registration Ends” is for students and advisors.
b. “Drop/Add” is for ELCs and ELC Assistants. c. Reinstates will be status changes in the ET, and ELCs can change it, and the ET will capture the change in the background. Reinstates do not have to be sent to Beverlin. d. Saturdays and Sundays are figured into the formula. Holidays are also taken into consideration.
ii. There was much discussion about control and census dates among the group. After the discussion, the Administrative Calendar Committee made a motion to: 1. Accept the control dates on the proposed handout with the exception of census dates. 2. Add the December mid-start intercession as a term. 3. Not skip any weeks or days between four-week term start dates. All schools voted to ‘approve’ items 1-2 above. Holmes Community College voted ‘no’ to item 3 above, but all other college’s voted ‘yes’. The majority ruled, and items 1-3 were passed. Motion carried.
Once the Admin Calendar Committee hears back from Ive regarding census dates, a vote will be emailed out to the group. The group was in agreement that it is important to have established dates prior to the May 1 st mini-term meeting.
ii. Agenda for May 1 st Work Session 1. Tish Stewart went over the ‘Mini-Terms Overview’ handout and discussed that the calendar committee looked at the dates of major universities to determine
