MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

i. Audra passed out the requested changes to the Library Resources section of the survey. Christa Wilhite made motion to approve recommended changes to MSVCC Student Services Survey; Jennifer James seconded. Motion carried i. Audra passed out copies of MCCB code 9.4 and 9.5 to address questions some institutions have about eLearning division serving as instructional authority over instructors. i. Brooke reported that Hinds Community College has the most participation in MSVCC Academy. Brooke encouraged eLCs to access the MSVCC instructor resources course to access recordings. 1. Three colleges signed up for the training tour. Training tour started yesterday and included presentations on Prezi, Jing and BingLink 2. GoSignMeUp contract will canceled predominately because of the integration issues. Brooke is working with Ive and another company to utilize the ET to provide professional development. More information will be provided later.

New Business

a. Vote on New ET

i. Vote to deploy for summer and fall enrollment 1. Before making the decision to move forward, Ive answered questions and address concerns regarding functionality of the ET; particularly the self- registration process. Ive indicated some changes could be done in minutes and others may take at least a day. Jennifer Leimer made motion to move forward with the new ET based on self- registration link working next week. Christa Wilhite seconded motion. Motion passed. ii. Pearson (Tina McMechen) 1. Tina did a presentation on the integrations of Canvas and Pearson solutions. She also passed out information regarding the Pearson conference April 28 – 30 in Orlando, Florida.

iii. SmarterProctoring – Krista Lebrun and Virtual Proctoring – Audra Kimble 1. Update on testing

a. Krista asked if there were updates on status of testing with SmarterProctoring. A few colleges have set up criteria to test. We will have more discussions on if we are moving forward with SmarterProctoring and opting in B-Virtual. a. Audra stated that a differentiated amount will be charged for virtual proctoring based on length of the exam. B-Virtual proposed $17 flat fee if all schools opt in.
